Estimate paint for your room
Enter the area to paint (walls and/or ceiling), the number of coats and the coverage on the can. The tool computes the liters needed, rounded slightly up.
-
Measure the area
Sum the wall area (perimeter × height).
-
Pick the coats
2 coats in most cases.
-
Read the liters
Instant result + total surface.
The formula
- Liters = area × coats ÷ coverage
- Typical coverage: 10–12 m²/L
- Total surface = area × coats
- Allow a touch-up margin
Example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Area | 40 m² |
| Coats | 2 |
| Coverage | 11 m²/L |
| Paint | ≈ 7.3 L |
Indicative estimate: real coverage depends on the surface and paint. 100% local calculation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate paint needed?
Liters = area × number of coats ÷ coverage (m²/L). For example 40 m² × 2 coats ÷ 11 m²/L ≈ 7.3 L.
What coverage should I use?
Most wall paints cover 10–12 m²/L per coat. Check the label: a porous or dark surface lowers coverage.
How many coats should I plan?
Usually 2 coats for an even result, sometimes an extra primer coat on bare surfaces or very different colors.
Should I add a margin?
Yes: buy a little extra for touch-ups and round up to the next can. The tool already rounds slightly up.
