Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between white, pink and brown noise?
White noise has equal energy at all frequencies (a hissy sound). Pink falls off 3 dB per octave: equal energy per octave, perceived as more balanced. Brown falls off 6 dB per octave: deep and muffled, close to a waterfall or rain.
Which one for sleep or focus?
Many find pink or brown noise more soothing as it is less harsh in the highs, ideal for sleep. White noise better masks sudden sounds (voices, keyboard) for focus. Try them: it is very personal.
What is the timer for?
It stops the sound automatically after the chosen delay, perfect to fall asleep without leaving the noise running all night. Set it to 0 for continuous playback.
Is the noise looped or continuous?
The tool generates a noise sample and plays it in a seamless loop, giving a continuous, even stream with no audible cut. Everything is produced locally, with no file or connection.
