Frequently asked questions
Where does the data come from?
From Open Library, an open-source Internet Archive project cataloguing millions of books. The data is open and the API is free and key-free.
Can I search by ISBN?
Yes. Type a title, an author name or an ISBN (10 or 13 digits): the tool returns the most relevant matching editions.
Why do some books have no cover?
Not every edition has a scanned cover image in the database. In that case, a placeholder icon is shown instead.
Is my search private?
Only the query you type is sent to Open Library to fetch results. No account, no tracking and no other personal data.
