Frequently asked questions
Where does the data come from?
From Wikipedia’s REST API (MediaWiki software, open source), the “on this day” endpoint. It is free, key-free, and returns facts in the page’s language; if that edition doesn’t cover the date, it falls back to English.
Which categories are available?
Three tabs: notable events, famous births and deaths for the chosen day. Each entry shows the year and a link to the matching Wikipedia article.
Can I pick any date?
Yes. Choose the month and the day; the year doesn’t matter since the tool aggregates every historical fact for that calendar date. By default, today’s date is shown.
Is it privacy-friendly?
Only the date (month and day) is sent to fetch public facts. No account, no tracking and no personal data.
