Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate engagement rate?

Engagement = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100. E.g. (450 + 50) ÷ 10,000 = 5%.

What is a good rate?

It varies with account size: 1–3% is often fine, and smaller accounts tend to have higher rates than large ones.

Followers or reach?

By followers (as here) is most common. By reach the rate is higher because reach is lower than followers.

Can I include shares?

This calculation uses likes + comments. To include shares/saves, add them into the comments field.
