Frequently asked questions
What does “d20” or “d6” mean?
The letter “d” means “die” and the number is the number of faces. A d6 is the classic 6-sided die; a d20 (20 faces) is iconic in tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. This tool offers d4 to d100.
Is the roll truly random?
Yes: each die is drawn with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s cryptographic generator, rejecting high values to avoid any bias. Each face has exactly the same probability.
Why roll several dice at once?
Many games require sums (2d6 for a total of 2 to 12) or handfuls of dice. The tool shows each result and the total, and keeps a history of your rolls.
Does the d6 favour some values?
No. On a fair die each face has a one-in-six chance. On 2d6 however, the sum 7 is the most frequent because more combinations produce it (1-6, 2-5, 3-4…); that is mathematics, not a bias.
