Where do the exchange rates come from?
From the European Central Bank (ECB) daily reference rates, fetched via the free, open frankfurter.app API. The rate date is shown under the result.
Are my amounts sent anywhere?
No. Only the public rate table is downloaded; the amount you enter and the calculation stay entirely in your browser. No personal data is transmitted.
Are the rates real-time?
They are the official reference rates, published once per business day by the ECB (late afternoon). They do not reflect second-by-second market moves or the margins applied by banks and exchange offices.
What happens offline?
Without a connection the rates cannot be fetched and a message tells you so, with a “Retry” button. As soon as you are back online, reload the rates to convert.
